2009 National Alpaca Farm Days

September 28, 2009

2009 National Alpaca Day Alpaca Farm Days was a huge success. We could not keep track of the people coming and going. There were lots of folks interested in learning more about our Alpacas. We will have to consider being open all day next year instead of the 5 hours each day. We had skirting, knitting, crocheting, and felting demonstrations. There was fun for everyone including the children. The children were able to handle the alpacas and make a finger puppet to take home. Ghost Dancer’s Callie was always at the ready to have her picture taken with the visitors to 3 Hawk Alpacas. There was a pen of some of the Alpacas we had for sale and despite the economy we have made some new family members by their purchase of elite Alpacas. The farm store was open for the early Christmas shopper and the individual with a keen eye for that special item made by hand from 100% North Carolina Alpaca. Visitors had a choice of handmade scarves, shawls, felted Alpacas, felted soaps, yarns, and knitted Afghans as well as other items made from North Carolina Alpaca. Treats were available including Alpaca cookies and Alpaca candies. We are... [More]

Callie Helping To Mow (The mower is running and cutting the grass along the drive)

September 12, 2009

http://www.photoshow.com/watch/az2cu2kw

This a slide show of Callie helping to mow along the drive coming into the farm.  She is one alpaca that is not afraid of any running machinery on the farm.  Callie is our Reserve Champion in more ways then one.  If you would like to lease her for a school activity, birthday party, or other event please contact me and we can work out the details.   She is great around children of all ages.  She will be the hit of your event.

White Oak Elmentary School

April 24, 2009

On Friday April 24,2009 Callie and I went to school for the day to visit the first graders.  Callie was a great little trooper and just loved all of the children.  She got to see more children then originally planned.  The pre-schoolers could see her from their window and were trying to guess if she was a reindeer or big dog.  Once she went over to them they knew they had been wrong.  They have a book called "My Mama's a Llama" so that is what they thought she was.  Really that is very good on their part for knowing she looked similar to the animal in their book. Kudos to the teachers and students.

The first graders had numerous very good questions about alpacas from where they come from to what they eat. They also were able to look at some items made of 100% American Alpaca.  They were able to handle yarns, scarves, gloves, raw fiber, hand spun yarn, a felted purse, knit purse, and one of the 1st American 100% Alpaca Blankets made commercially in the United States.

It was a very enjoyable day that I was grateful to be able to put on for the students....

2009 Carolina Alpaca Celebration

February 24, 2009

The show was this past week-end in Concord North Carolina.  This was the third year for the show and it was a level 5 Halter Show.  I had two juveniles in the competition.  Ghost Dancers Sophia is a medium brown female that placed 4th in her very competitive class.  Cinnamons Grey Ghost is a dark silver gray male that placed 4th in his class.

They are both for sale and are registered for the VA Classic Show in Lexington, Virginia.  This show will be held March 13-15, 2009 at the Virginia Horse Complex.  You can purchase either one and show them in March or you can view them at the show and decide to purchase at that time.  Either way they would be a step in the right direction to upgrading your breeding program. If any interest contact 3 Hawk Alpacas.

This was a very friendly show with everyone willing to help others.  The volunteers did a great job from start to finish.  There were numerous seminars that were available for breeders and vistors alike.  The Carolina Alpaca Breeders and Owners do a great job every year with their efforts to put on a class one show.  They exceed their expectations...

Happy New Year

January 4, 2009

Well the holidays are behind us and the new year is ahead.  We are in uncertain economic times and must make the best decisions concerning our financial state.

We have some Alpacas for sale at prices reflecting the current economy.  This is a great time to purchase the alpacas you have been wanting. You can purchase them even if you are not ready for delivery. They can be agisted (boarded) until you are ready at your farm. The Alpacas for sale on our site have all placed in competitive shows.

Recently we attended the National Alpaca Show in Springfield Ohio.  The Alpacas did quite well. One of our females won a blue ribbon in fleece and also the Best in Crimp for the show. We had a great time and treasure the new people we met and hope to keep them as friends.

The spring show season will soon be under way and this also a great way for the interested parties to see and learn more about Alpacas before their purchase.

I hope everyone has a great and prosperous year.

The Peruvian Classic Sale

October 22, 2008

This is an annual sale of some of the best Alpacas. Friday, October 31, 2008 will be the Suri Alpaca Sale and Saturday, November 1, 2008 will be the Huacaya Alpaca Sale. I have two of Ghost Dancers daughters in this auction.

Elvira won 1st Place at the Smokey Mountain Show, was part of the Get of Sire that won 1st Place, and 3rd Place in the ALSA National Fleece Show 2007. Her histogram improved from 2007 to 2008. She is bred to AMC Cassino for a June 2009 delivery. With this breeding you get Accoyo and Allianza genetics. Be sure to check her out and bid often.

Lydia won 2nd Place at the Smokey Mountain Show , was part of the Get of Sire that won 1st Place and 2nd Place in the VA Classic Spin-Off 2008. Her histogram also improved from 2007 to 2008. This is a example of the good genetics her dam and sire have. She is bred to AMC Cassino for a May 2009 delivery. With this breeding you can only improve your breeding program. Be sure to check her out and bid often.

If you can not attend the show, register at LiiveAuctions.TV and...

Reserve Champion

October 13, 2008

Ghost Dancers Callie and Autumn Sun were in the GA National Fair this week-end. Autumn Sun and Callie both placed 1st in their Halter Classes. Ghost Dancers Callie was also the Reserve Champion of the Alpaca Show.

The show was fun and all the entrants were friendly and helpful to all entrants. The show was held at Perry Georgia and the weather was good and the facility was very animal friendly. I will continue to attend this show each October and would welcome others to attend with their Alpacas.

Great Smokey Mountain LLama Show in Tennessee

June 3, 2007

I took four of our Fall babies to the show and they did me very proud.  Ghost Dancers Lydia, Ghost Dancers Aurora and Ghost Dancers Elvira competed against each other in Halter.  They took 1st thru 3rd place.  There were 6 Alpacas in the class.  I then entered them into the Get of Sire and again they took 1st place for Ghost Dancer. They did very good in the show and on the trip there.

Not to be forgotten is Kleins Geronimo who also took 1st place.  The judge said his conformation was great. She said this top line and curve at tail was perfect. He was shown in the shorn class so she could say his fleece was dense but could not give a detailed judging of it's characterisics but that it was soft.

I had a great time at the show and everyone was very friendly and helpful.  I want to give a special thanks to Briana lunn for all of her help.  She did great with the Alpacas in the ring.  Again a great big THANK YOU!!

I am looking forward to returning to the show next year and am sure It will be a great show...

The Carolina Alpaca Celebration

February 20, 2007

I have just returned from the very first Carolina Alpaca Celebration put on by CABO and it was a hugh sucess.  This was one of the best first shows I have ever attended.  It was extremely organized and the compitition was great.  There was a good variety of Alpacas and Owners for all over the east coast.  We had Alpacas from Pennsylvania, New York,  and Ohio as well as our south eastern states.  The people were great at showing our southern hospitality.  I hope everyone had as much fun as I did.  The bad weather in the north did effect one of our judges getting to the show but she was only about 3 hours late the show went off very well.  If you want a good show to attend that is good even for the first showing be sure to check back and attend the 2nd Carolina Alpaca Celebration in 2008.  I would like to hear what others thought of our show.  North Carolina Alpaca Farmers can be very proud of this show.

ALPACAS AND NEWSBOUT THEM

December 18, 2006

Well it is almost Christmas and here is a deal for you listed under "NORTH CAROLINA ALPACA STARTER PACKAGE".  If you are wanting to get started in the business here is a good opportunity for you to get in while you can still take the tax deduction this year for the entire purchase price.  The price is exceptional for the quality of the Alpacas and you would be getting a package with abosolutely no related animals.  If this interests you, please call one of the farms listed with your questions and interest before the package is gone.
